My seventeen quail chicks are doing very well. They are on pine shavings now, and using an adult bird feeder and drinker. I keep adjusting their heat plates higher, as quail chicks grow like beanstalks.

I want to keep all of them, so my extra sturdy ground pen may be revived for them. They are so friendly and sweet so far. Usually by now I’m a scary monster to at least a few of the chicks in a hatch. These chicks are only suspicious of the phone (camera).
The colors in this bunch are stunning, to me. My favorite quail colors.
If things keep going this well, I may only do one more hatch this spring. Or maybe no more until next spring. The rooster to hen ratio matters, so we’ll see. It’s so addictive.
