Fall allergens are the devil to many. Goldenrod is often mistaken for ragweed, yet it’s not the same. It’s a valuable food source for pollinators at the time of year when such sources are scarce. Here is a photo of each.


Our goldenrod is covered with monarchs, native wild bees, our own bees, birds, and other pollinators. It’s important to identify a plant before pulling it out.
Ragweed? Even pets can suffer from allergies to it. Everything has a place, and perhaps a yard is better suited to goldenrod than to ragweed.
