All of my veggies and most of my fruit grows and ripens at a slightly later time than most. We have a shady back yard. So there are no cherry tomatoes or cucumbers to offer yet. It won’t be long now. But the quail eggs – wow! We get so many! My last batch of chicks are nearly adults, so there will be more.
I decided to set up at our local Midweek Farmer’s Market with the fresh quail eggs for now. The one my daughter and I have been at is the Saturday one, which runs until noon each Saturday during the season.
The midweek midweek one is on Wednesdays, from 11 until 5:30. I’m going to be there starting this week. Both days are behind the Kandi Mall.
This market is an excellent place to buy food from the source, and to support your local growers and makers. Truly fresh, wholesome food, and goods that are handmade with much care. There are greens, beets, spuds, homemade breads and rolls, and amazing lefse – made with real potatoes. There are durable cutting boards, beautiful greeting cards and tea towels, vibrant sunflowers and fresh meat and chicken eggs. Lots of other goodies too. Including quail eggs.
In other words, it’s an actual farmer’s market, connecting people with honest, local food. And it’s community.
